Plot: In a seemingly perfect community, without war, pain, suffering, differences or choice, a young boy is chousen to learn from an elderly man about the true pain and pleasure of the "real" world.
Cast: Brenton Thwaites, Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes, Odeya Rush
Review: I wasn't quite sure at first why they made it black and white but it really worked because as the film goes, the black and white grow to colors and it's fascinating to watch. The actors were good but Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep stood out for me. Brenton Thwaites, the lead sometimes lacks personality but he's okay.
The story is somewhat similar to Divergent but with a different twist and message. We need the bad in order to appreciate the good. We can't always live with joy, there will always be pain. I loved that the movie showed how emotions (love) can surpass anything with all the evil in this world. That with a simple melody, life would be so much better. It made me celebrate life after watching it.
Rating: ★★★★★★
