Plot: A pair of former high school sweethearts reunite after many years when they return to visit their small hometown.
Cast: James Marsden, Michelle Monaghan, Liana Liberato, Luke Bracey
Review: As soon as I watched the trailer, I immediately thought, what an odd casting. But still I watched it. So here's the problem. There's no chemistry whatsoever between Bracey (Dawson) and Liberato (Amanda) although there are a lot of make-out sessions involved. Also, Luke Bracey looked way too old to be in high school and to play the younger version of James Marsden. It just doesn't feel right. There's more connection between the older Dawson and Amanda. James Marsden can show a lot of emotions just by looking at his eyes. I thought he looked hot.
For a romantic film fanatic, this didn't quite hit the mark for me. Yes there are some cheesy moments that will definitely make you smile and cry. Yes James Marsden is hot. Yes there will be a moment where you'll think about your first love. Yes the soundtrack is good. That's it. Not the best of Nicholas Sparks adaptation for sure. The movie can be predictable but it's not that horrible.
There's a lesson here. "Girls, it's okay to make the first move as long as you don't push it too far. You'll never know what could happen. He might like you back. He might also be the one."
Nicholas Sparks fans and romantic film fanatics are most likely to enjoy this because of the romance and tearjerker moments.
Rating: ★★★★★★
