Plot: A young boy whose parents have just divorced finds an unlikely friend and mentor in the misanthropic, bawdy, hedonistic war veteran who lives next door.
Cast: Bill Murray, Melissa McCarthy, Naomi Watts
Review: I love this movie! It's a bittersweet drama with a touch of comedy.
Bill Murray's character Vincent is a hard character to like but he definitely grows on you especially his scenes with Jaeden (Oliver). I don't watch a lot of his movies but I think he delivered an outstanding performance in this movie. Wow Naomi Watts did a terrific job as the Russian lady of the night. Her Russian accent is on point. She kept it throughout the whole movie. I love her character. Very enjoyable to watch. Plus she made me laugh a couple of times so good job Naomi! Melissa McCarthy is known for doing gold comedies with her improvised punchlines but here in St. Vincent, you'll see a more dramatic McCarthy. She plays a mom who's willing to do anything for his kid Oliver (Jaeden). Very likable character. But to me, the newcomer kid Jaeden Lieberher stole the show. This kid is going places. It's his first film debut and he did it flawlessly. Solid performance from this kid. So much talent. He's cute too. We'll definitely see more of him in the future. All the characters in this film feels real and relatable.
I recommend this movie to everyone. It's worth your time.
